Client interview with TerriGibbs, Director of Support Services
The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. They currently serve over 35 individuals with disabilities through Group Day and Community Engagement programs, and In-Home Care and Respite Services.
Prior to implementing Relias Learning in 2014, education administration was manual and staff training was primarily instructor-led, which meant scheduling challenges, expenses and difficulties getting everyone trained on time. They found it was very challenging to get access to training topics needed for the variety of services provided, including Behavior Management, Supervision, and Person-Centered Training.
“Prior to Relias, it took 4 to 5 months to find training in certain fields, which put us behind in compliance.”
The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham needed to have visibility of completed training, ensure on-time completion, and assign training to specific roles and new hires.
Implementing the Relias learning management system (LMS) was fast and simple. The wide breadth of content topics and the quality of courses that Relias offers has allowed them to save time and money on orientation training and onboarding. In addition, they can rest assured knowing the Relias LMS has every training course required by their auditors.
The fact that Relias LMS isn’t only for new hire training is an added benefit for The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham. Because of the system’s robust automation features, they are automatically notified when training courses are completed and when annual training is due, which helps them stay compliant.
