National Patient Safety Focus in 2023 and Beyond

CMS and the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety (NSC) have aligned on inpatient acute care focus related to patient safety improvement. Recent data indicate that infection rates and other hospital-associated adverse events increased before COVID-19 and worsened during the pandemic. National thought leaders have made several recommendations and are challenging healthcare leaders to adopt the system-wide patient safety bundle.
