The Fatal Five is a set of five common health conditions that are linked to preventable deaths of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). DSPs and IDD staff must be able to recognize the signs of these conditions and know what actions to take when they are seen, including observing and reporting changes in their clients’ health status.
