ANCOR’s Certificates of Achievement created with Relias are among the tools that providers can use to offer their staff the training and professional development that have been recognized as important components in why people stay. Each Certificate of Achievement has been designed to strengthen specific skills sets and competencies which translate to better support for individuals with IDD.
Join Gabrielle Sedor in this session to learn more about ANCOR’s Certificates of Achievement and how providers have incorporated them into their employee training and benefits programs; explore the recommendations laid out in the 2021 Case for Inclusion that supercharge the direct support workforce and foster innovations that enable better outcomes and a more sustainable service system; and understand how you can get involved in ANCOR’s efforts to create a standard occupational classification for DSPs, build pipelines to recruit, train and retain staff and support livable wages and strong benefits for our DSPs.
Description and Learning Objectives
Reducing the 45% turnover rate among Direct Support Professionals (DSP) nationally has long been one of ANCOR’s policy priorities. Following the research first released in our white paper on the workforce crisis, ANCOR continues to:
- Create resources and tools for providers to recruit and retain DSPs that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families can rely on,
- Develop policy recommendations for the current Administration, as well as
- Lead in the development of Congressional proposals to address the workforce crisis.
