In recent years, the behavioral health delivery system has undergone a series of changes that started with the Affordable Care Act, made significant progress with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act and saw the creation of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) with the Excellence in Mental Health Act.
These changes create an opportunity for mental health and addiction treatment organizations to serve their communities in different ways. Primary and acute care organizations are increasingly seeing the need to address mental health and substance use issues to improve client care and outcomes. Behavioral health organizations hold the key to enhancing our healthcare system.
