Chronic wounds such as pressure injuries, venous, diabetic and arterial all take a long time to heal. The longer it takes, the higher the risk of complications, which could result in infections and sometimes death. Unfortunately, in the U.S., wound care is barely addressed in universities, and therefore, we have clinicians that are not up to speed with the current standards of care, creating a legal risk for them and their facilities.
