MDS 3.0 Manual Updates for October 2016: Part 1

CMS has released a DRAFT version of the MDS 3.0 User’s Manual. This update includes some significant coding clarifications and changes in including the new  Section GG . Many of the changes included in the DRAFT update correspond to the implementation of the SNF Quality Reporting Program in which MDS data will begin being collected as of 10/1/2016.

In addition to coding revisions, this manual update also provides detailed information and instructions related to the new Discharge assessment – SNF PPS Part A Discharge. This new assessment item set will also be implemented on 10/1/2016 and all facility MDS staff will need to understand the requirements for completion of this new discharge assessment.
