Interview with Nicole Clapp, President/CEO; Angie Cohen, Safety Officer; and Misty Koeller, ER Manager and Trauma Coordinator at Grant Regional Health Center

Background

Grant Regional Health Center is located in Lancaster, WI. It houses 35 beds and 250 employees. Services the hospital offers include a dementia care program, diabetes services, emergency care, gynecology and women’s health, obstetrics, industrial rehab, orthopedics, a sleep lab, surgical care, and walk-in care.

Customize Programs to Meet Your Needs

Grant partnered with Relias Learning* in 2013. Implementation of a new system is always a daunting task, but for ER Manager Misty Koeller, Relias was there to help every step of the way.

“I dealt directly with friendly people during implementation. When I call I always get a person, never a recording! Customer service is great, but what really sold us was the ability to customize programs for our needs. We could really see ourselves growing with Relias,” says Koeller.

“Education plays a big role in our overall success. Relias has helped us coordinate our staff education efforts; being able to create our own education when needed has been very important.”

– Gretta McKelvey, BSBA Director of Regulatory Compliance & Clinical Services

A Cost Effective System

Relias helps Grant save time and money each year because it keeps staff in-house and reduces travel costs for certifications. “We don’t have to take a reduction in profitability by having to bring on more staff to cover for those in trainings. We can accomplish our annual requirements individually, when the time works for us,” says Clapp.

The Complete Package

Grant benefits from the Relias partnership in several areas:

Track your results. “Not only can we track course completions, but we can also monitor results,” says Cohen. She says they use Relias for everything from certifications and trainings to human resourcesrequired courses covering topics such as diversity in the workforce and conflict resolution.

Improve efficiency. Thanks to Relias, day-long in-service trainings are a thing of the past. Now personnel can complete courses when it best fits their schedule. “For me personally, the ability to work at my own pace and on my own timeline has been a major advantage of Relias,” says Clapp. “I know this is the case for my colleagues as well.”

Flexibility that meets your needs. “Using Relias has allowed our organization a great deal of flexibility,” says Clapp. “Whether it’s customizing our programming with courses that work for our specific needs or simply giving us the ability to work on our own time in the style that suits us best, Relias has done wonders for our organization.”

Superior customer service. “If I ever have an issue, I report it to Relias and very soon after I get an email or a phone call,” says Cohen. “They are always good!”
