COVID-19 and Long-Term Care Providers: Where Are We Now?

As COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, continues to spread across the U.S. and the rest of the world, skilled nursing facilities and other long-term care providers are having to remain diligent to prevent the virus making it into their organization.

According to health authorities, the threat of introduction of the virus into facilities and communities caring for seniors is highest from those who have recently traveled to regions with a high prevalence of COVID-19, and/or those they have come into contact with upon return. That means staff and visitors, as well as short-stay residents in skilled facilities, likely represent a higher risk of introduction.
