Relias Announces 2022 Impact Nation Conference

Virtual event will feature expert panels and sessions designed to empower healthcare leaders and educators and elevate the performance of care teams

Relias, the trusted education and workforce development partner to more than 11,000 healthcare organizations worldwide, will host its virtual Impact Nation conference from November 9-11, 2022.

The annual event will bring together industry leaders and experts for educational sessions, expert panels, and keynotes. Programming will examine crucial issues such as patient safety, crisis prevention, and staff development, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as recruitment and retention, as the healthcare industry continues to face staffing challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impact Nation will feature over 35 speaking sessions discussing different challenges and trends across the healthcare continuum. Additionally, there will be 14 workshop sessions led by some of the industry’s brightest leaders designed to help customers with best practices, value realization of products and solutions, and real-time access to resources to help answer questions.

Through presentations from Relias’ own experts and speakers from other renowned healthcare organizations, the conference will offer unique insights on topics such as provider mental health, maternal mortality, workforce challenges, implementation of innovative technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR), barriers to care accessibility, and more. Attendees can choose from sessions including:

  • VR Simulation Meets Maternal Safety, led by Laura Bond, Strategic Alliance Manager, Relias; Lora Sparkman, Partner, Clinical Solutions, Relias; and John Harrington, Director, Clinical Solutions, Relias
  • Recruiting Nurses Today for a Workforce of Tomorrow, led by Jenn Seith, Vice President of Product Management, Relias
  • Building and Supporting a Team in Dementia Care, led by Teepa Snow, CEO, Positive Approach to Care
  • Best Practices for DSP Appreciation, led by Barbara Merrill, CEO, ANCOR
  • State of Home Health Care and Hospice, led by William A. Dombi, Esq., President, The National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC)

This year’s conference will spotlight Samantha Harris and Kathy Buckley as keynote speakers. Samantha is an Emmy-winning TV host of Dancing With the Stars and Entertainment Tonight, breast cancer survivor, certified health coach, and bestselling author. As a survivor, Samantha will share what she’s learned regarding how we can all improve our overall health, prevent chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease and neurodegenerative disorders, and better understand their underlying causes.

Kathy is an award-winning actress, speaker, and hearing-impaired comedian known for her provocative speeches that inspire audience members to embrace their own adversities by sharing their stories. A five-time American Comedy Awards Nominee for Best Stand-Up Female Comedian and regular guest on talk shows including Good Morning America and The Tonight Show, Kathy starred in her own original award-winning PBS special, No Limits, No Labels. Against the backdrops of their own experiences, both keynotes will address the need to increase awareness and initiatives promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across industries like entertainment and healthcare, where historically they may have been overlooked.

“Samantha and Kathy exemplify the success that can be achieved when space is created for people of different backgrounds and abilities in industries, especially where those opportunities have not always been given,” said Rola Aamar, PhD, Principal Consultant, Behavioral Health Solutions at Relias. “At Impact Nation, we’re encouraging conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare, particularly regarding recruitment and retention. We’re honored to have Samantha and Kathy share their thoughts and personal experiences with our conference attendees.”

Impact Nation will feature sessions that address staffing concerns in a post-COVID world. The healthcare industry has battled issues related to retention and burnout since the beginning of the pandemic, and Relias has led the charge in helping healthcare organizations optimize training/onboarding and implement assessments that improve operations and ultimately support recruitment and retention.

“COVID-19 continues to heavily impact the healthcare industry, especially where staffing is concerned, as burnout drives healthcare professionals to leave their roles,” said Trish Richardson, MSN, BSBA, RN, NE-BC, CMSRN, director of post-acute care solutions at Relias and president-elect of the North Carolina Nurses Association. “By coming together to face these challenges head-on, and collaborating to ensure organizations have the tools they need to encourage successful recruitment, training, and retention, we can make a positive impact on our industry, its employees, and most importantly, our patients and residents.”
