The emergency use authorizations for both the Pfizer and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have been amended to allow for an additional dose. The American Medical Association (AMA) has released new CPT® codes for the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) vaccines and codes for immunization administration. Effective August 12, 2021, CMS Medicare Part B will pay to administer additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines consistent with the FDA EUAs, using CPT® codes for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
