NCP for Quality Palliative Care: Guidelines Released

Over 40% of Americans are living with one or more chronic diseases, making diagnoses and care plans even more complex. The acuity of comorbidities compounds over time and can lead to life-threatening illnesses— growing the need for medical and nursing care that can relieve symptoms, pain, and stress.

With the limited number of nurses able to provide this specialized care, there is a steadily growing demand for all care providers to utilize primary palliative care skills. The goal is to treat the whole person, in addition to the disease, to improve overall quality of life.

Palliative care is not just for specialists anymore!

Join Relias and the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) as we discuss the impact of the newly released 4th edition of the National Consensus Project (NCP) Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, released October 31, 2018. Learn how to integrate these new guidelines to expand the use of palliative care across all clinical settings and in the community to improve care for patients with a serious illness and their families.

During this webinar we:

  • Describe the history of the evolution of palliative care beyond specialty care
  • Identify the new key concepts, themes, and major revisions to the 4th edition of the NCP Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care
  • Discuss aspects of the new NCP Guidelines which apply directly to community-based palliative care
