Antecedent Interventions for Individuals with Autism
About This Webinar
Too often difficulties in communication can lead to challenging behaviors, which can be the case for individuals with autism. Behavior analysis is the science of behavior change, based on the premise that behavior is influenced by the events which come before and after the behavior. When we identify the factors which make a behavior more or less likely to occur, we can use the information to develop effective interventions. Antecedent interventions are those strategies which are aimed at preventing challenging behavior from occurring. With antecedent interventions, the focus is on strengthening deficient repertoires, while systematically increasing task demands/difficulty.
During this webinar, we:
- Review research related to antecedent intervention.
- Discuss various strategies for decreasing task demands.
