Wound Care Education Institute and Nurse.com Open Registration for 2023 Wild on Wounds Conference

In-person event designed to advance wound care professionals in skin, wound, and ostomy management through hands-on, immersive training

Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI), a trusted education partner that prepares healthcare clinicians for board certification exams with advanced clinical knowledge, and Nurse.com, an industry-leading online education company providing lifelong career support to nurses, announced that registration is now open for the 17th annual Wild on Wounds (WOW) conference this September 13-16 at the Diplomat Beach Resort, Hollywood, Florida.

WCEI and Nurse.com are part of parent company Relias’ family of brands, which includes Relias Academy, FreeCME, and Relias Media. Relias brands share a common goal to improve the lives of the most vulnerable members of society and those who care for them.

Wild on Wounds brings together clinicians from across the U.S. to network, participate in hands-on workshops, and learn about new wound care treatments and technologies to better care for their patients and enhance their knowledge.

WOW offers impactful, hands-on wound care education for nurses, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals. New to this year’s conference are pre-conference options featuring informative, timely legal sessions, and the new Virtual Poster Hall, which spotlights the latest in clinical research, clinical practice outcomes, new technology management, and more.

Conference attendees can choose from 56 educational sessions and earn up to 25 contact hours for continuing education (CE) credits with the option to earn extra CE credit hours in the Virtual Poster Hall. Notable sessions include:

Additional highlights this year are our opening and closing keynote speakers.

Nicole Angemi, MS, PA (ASCP), also known as the internet’s “human dissector,” will open this year’s Wild on Wounds conference. Angemi rose to fame for her “gross” content on an Instagram account that is now followed by nearly 2 million fans and many celebrities. She uses this platform and her private blog, The Gross Room, to highlight working as a pathologists’ assistant and embraces the Latin phrase mortui vivos docent, meaning “the dead teach the living.”

“Wild on Wounds is such a unique industry event, connecting enthusiastic healthcare professionals who are all highly committed to the advancement of patient care,” said Nicole Angemi, founder of The Gross Room and author of Nicole Angemi’s Anatomy Book. “Every day, I leverage my social media platform and online community to bring awareness to various pathologies — both rare and common — to doctors, nurses, and everyone in between. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to connect with healthcare professionals in this unique, immersive setting to discuss aspects of my surgical pathology and autopsy work in person.”

For this year’s closing session, Amy Loughren will provide healthcare professionals with tools for self-care, including meditation techniques and insights into the spiritual and energetic aspects of healing. Loughren’s international fame grew out of her part in an investigation that helped put a nurse colleague who turned out to be one of the most prolific serial killers in American history behind bars. Following this emotionally grueling experience, Loughren pursued a number of interests to enhance self-care, including becoming a Reiki master, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, and meditation instructor.

“Mental health is a crucial part of the healing processes for both patients and healthcare providers alike,” said Loughren, RN, whose personal experience is shared in both the book and Netflix movie, The Good Nurse. “In my closing session, I hope to provide attendees with the techniques and tools that will enable them to enhance the mental health of themselves and their patients.”

Current ticket pricing reflects an early rate discount of $75, available until May 1, 2023. To learn more and register for Wild on Wounds, visit the official event page.
