Relias Learning Earns Triangle Business Journal SPACE Award

Explosive growth fuels staffing gains and $5 million Job Development Investment Grant

CARY, NC, February 1, 2017 – Relias Learning, the leader in online training solutions for the healthcare market, has been honored with a SPACE Award from the Triangle Business Journal. The awards, which salute the Triangle market’s top commercial real estate deals and developments were handed out on Thursday, January 26, at the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. Relias Learning captured the award for Economic Development, Existing Industry after being nominated by Wake County Economic Development.

“Relias Learning embodies the positive economic development we’re experiencing in Wake County,” said Adrienne Cole, Wake County Economic Development Executive Director. “We wish them continued success, and growth, in 2017 and beyond.”

In July of 2016, Relias Learning announced that it would be adding more than 450 jobs over the next five years in Wake County. As part of this expansion plan, Relias Learning is eligible to receive up to $5.36 million from the state Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program over 12 years. Relias Learning’s expansion will contribute approximately $39 million to the Triangle region’s economy, according to a governor’s office news release. The new positions will include R&D personnel, sales and marketing professionals, and administrative staff.

“As proud members of the Triangle business community, it’s an honor to receive this award,” explained Relias Learning COO, Mark Belles. “While the acquisitions and expansion into foreign markets we experienced in 2016 means a broader footprint for the company, the core of our organization will continue to be rooted in this area.”

Relias Learning nearly doubled its workforce in 2016, adding 230 employees. Key hires in the Cary office last year included Mark Belles, COO; Alex Osadzinski, Managing Director, Global Operations; Tina Krebs, Director of Strategic Projects; Carol Clayton, Translational Neuroscientist; and Carter Adkinson, Vice President of Sales. The company also established offices in England, Germany and China.
