Robert Hess

PhD, RN, FAAN

Executive Vice President, Chief Nurse Executive

Robert represents OnCourse Learning Healthcare as a thought leader and serves as a connection to clients and professional organizations in the healthcare and education industries. He acts as an internal consultant for the management, healthcare and education teams and manages the creation of written and verbal communications for OnCourse Learning’s healthcare-related publications. He also supervises OCL-involved research endeavors and serves as the career blogger for Nurse.com.

He is the founder and CEO of the Forum for Shared Governance, an international clearinghouse for the development and dissemination of research and innovation related to shared governance. As a leading researcher in organizational governance, he is the author of the Index of Professional Governance and co-author of “Shared Governance, A Practical Approach to Transforming Interprofessional Healthcare.” Robert is a past distinguished lecturer and writer for The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. He is a past recipient of the prestigious New Jersey Governor’s Merit for Excellence Award as Educator of the Year. He is also a member of the American Academy of Nursing, where he chairs its Development Committee.

Dorothy W. Angelini

Executive Director, CE Accreditations and Approvals

Dody oversees the accreditation process for On Course Learning Healthcare. Previously, she led OnCourse’s growth by developing a nationwide system of continuing education programs implementing career fairs, study tours and cruises, webinars and seminars.

She brings to OnCourse more than 30 years’ of experience in nursing. Her background includes clinical practice in maternal and child health, public health and continuing education. Dody served as the director of maternal and child health services for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, where she developed a statewide system of maternal health services in New Jersey. She was appointed to and still serves on the Governor’s Council on the Prevention of Developmental Disabilities. Her expertise is unsurpassed in designing systems and educational programs as well as in writing and interpreting regulations.

Dody received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Adelphi University and her master’s in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in perinatal nursing.

Maria Morales

MSN, RN, CPAN

Director CNE Programs

Maria joined OnCourse Learning in 2014 after working as a critical care nurse. She is a clinically competent, CPAN (certified post-anesthesia nurse)-certified RN who provides specialized knowledge regarding perianesthesia nursing, nursing education and quality nursing care. She focuses on creating and developing ideas into working programs that support educational initiatives. She holds a BSN and a MSN in nursing education.

Nan Callender-Price

MA, RN

Clinical Nursing Editorial Director

Nan oversees the development of OnCourse’s continuing nursing education material. She blended her interests in publishing and journalism with nursing as a freelance writer, covering health and nursing topics for NurseWeek more than 20 years ago, moving up to director and editor.

Over the course of her career, she has worked with dozens of nurse-authors in developing their continuing education programs. She contributed the chapter “On the Road to Writing Continuing Education” for the book "Anatomy of Writing for Publication for Nurses," published by Sigma Theta Tau International in 2011. Nan has led several ContinuingEducation.com CE tours, including trips to China, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, South Africa and Zambia. She also practiced in women and children’s health at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.

She received a bachelor’s in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley; a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco; and a master’s in education from San Francisco State University.

Nadine Salmon

MSN, BSN, RN-BC, IBCLC

Clinical Director, Pearls Review & CE Events

Nadine manages the educational design, creation and maintenance of the Certification Review Library and CE Events programming at OnCourse.

Nadine has expertise in maternal child and postpartum nursing, home health and nursing professional development. After training in South Africa, she practiced nursing there in the United Kingdom and the United States. She is certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and is certified in nursing professional development by the ANCC.

Nadine has a master’s in nursing with an emphasis in leadership in healthcare systems from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

Scott F. McConnell

Vice President

Scott started his EMS career in 1990 becoming an EMT-M in the state of Pennsylvania, then an EMT-P in 1995. NRP in 1998, RN in 2008. He founded Distance CME which was acquired by OnCourse Learning in 2014.

James F. Ross

PT, DPT, CSCS

Physical Therapy Editor

James has helped lead OnCourse Learning’s continuing education solution, Today in PT, since it launched in 2008. He is backed by extensive clinical experience in the outpatient setting as well as the home care environment.

James received a master’s in physical therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and a doctorate in physical therapy from Daemen College in Buffalo. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Oren Shtayermman

Social Work Editor

Oren is an associate professor at Portland State University School of Social Work. An educator since 2004, he is also a researcher and has published many articles in the field of social work. He received his BSW from University of Haifa, MSW from New York University and PhD in social work from Fordham University in Bronx, New York.

Kathleen Fahey

PhD, CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathology Editor

Kathleen is the content editor in speech-language pathology and audiology at OnCourse Learning. She’s also a full professor emeritus in speech-language pathology in audiology and speech-language sciences at College of Natural and Health Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado.

Kathleen coordinates the online speech-language pathology program, student internships and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses online. An educator and speech-language pathologist for nearly 40 years, she is widely published and an experienced presenter in speech-language pathology. Kathleen earned her bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University, her master’s from Kent State University and her PhD from Michigan State University.

Catherine J. Swift

Clinical Laboratory Technology Editor

As OnCourse Learning’s clinical laboratory technology editor, Catherine has experience working in hospital and clinic laboratories. She has research experience in microbiology and clinical research trials involving patients and various drug therapy for osteoporosis, endometriosis, and bone density.

Catherine earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., and a degree in Medical Technology from North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.

Susan C. Drummond

LMT, RM

Massage Therapy Editor

Susan is a nationally certified, licensed massage therapist and Reiki Master. She has been instrumental in the growth of OnCourse Learning’s continuing education for Massage Therapy.

For eight years, she taught massage therapy at Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies in New Jersey. She continues to teach and practice massage therapy and other holistic healing modalities at her wellness center in New Jersey.

Dawn A. Demangone-Yoon

Medicine and Surgery Editor

Since 2013, Dawn has overseen CME and surgery tech content and development at OnCourse Learning. She is a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician in practice since 1996 and has been practicing at Virtua Voorhees Hospital in Voorhees, N.J., since 2005.

She spent several years practicing in a Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she assisted in the development of an emergency medicine residency program, and served as an assistant program director and medical student clinical clerkship co-coordinator. She also developed and implemented an emergency medicine ultrasound curriculum.

Dawn received her MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She participated in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Crystal Dunlevy

EdD, RRT, RCP

Respiratory Therapy Editor

Crystal is a clinical associate professor of respiratory therapy at The Ohio State University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in Columbus, Ohio. A registered respiratory therapist, she has been an educator for nearly 30 years and has published many articles in the field of respiratory therapy. Crystal holds an EdD in Educational Theory, Policy and Administration from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.

Olive Peart

Clinical Radiology Editor

Olive is a radiography educator, established writer and lecturer on mammography and other radiography-related topics at seminars throughout the United States and Canada. Her articles appear regularly in radiological journals and news magazines.

Her published books include "The Dangers of Medical Radiation," an English to Spanish translation of often-used, technical terms and radiologic instruction; "Mammography and Breast Imaging - Just the Facts;" "Lange Q & A Mammography Examination," a mammography question and answer review book; "Mammography and Breast Imaging Prep," a comprehensive breast imaging textbook; and "Radiography Flashcards," a projection reference guide for radiographic procedures.

Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Olive is a member of the Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Authors Guild and the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Olive graduated from a hospital-based radiography program in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I., and later received a master’s degree in education from the University of Bridgeport.

Esther Kim

Clinical Pharmacy Editor

As clinical pharmacy editor for OnCourse since 2015, Esther is oversees all pharmacy related course content. She has extensive pharmacy practice experience in the clinical, academic, community and compounding areas.

Esther graduated from the Temple University School of Pharmacy in 2008 and completed a pharmacy practice residency with the SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital in 2009. She holds pharmacy licenses in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Susan Swinehart

OTD, MS, OTR, FAOTA

Clinical Occupational Therapy Editor

Susan’s 40 years of experience as an occupational therapist, is an ideal complement to OnCourse Learning’s interprofessional focus and commitment to excellence. Her practice interests include community mental health, factors influencing practice choices and education. The majority of her career has been as a faculty member at Indiana University, teaching in both occupational and physical therapy programs. She was director of OT admissions, creator and coordinator of occupational therapy honors degree program, and editor of the Occupational Therapy Student Research journal.

Susan’s research studies have been published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. She has served in numerous leadership roles at the state and national level and was president of the International Women’s Association in Vienna. With her occupational therapy background, she worked with the American ambassador to develop and conduct leadership workshops for women in Eastern Europe. During her time abroad she conducted presentations on culture stress and provided consultation to the American International School.

Susan received her bachelor’s in occupational therapy from Kansas University, master’s in counseling from Indiana University and OTD from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

Julie Stefanski

Clinical Editor, Food, Nutrition & Dietetics

Julie Stefanski creates quality continuing education courses on nutrition topics for dietitians and other healthcare professionals. As a certified diabetes educator since 2003, Julie has a special interest in low carb and ketogenic diets for glucose control and seizure disorders. Julie specializes in pediatric nutrition, gastrointestinal issues, and sports performance. Julie has been an adjunct instructor in the Stabler Department of Nursing at York College in York, PA and holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and a master’s degree in Adult Education with a focus on distance education.
