    Payment-Related Scrutiny: How to Respond, Survive, and Thrive

    Session Description:

    Hospice Providers are experiencing a tremendous increase in payment-related scrutiny from various contractors including: Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), Zone Program Integrity Contractors (ZPICs), and Unified Program Integrity Contractors (UPICs). Most, if not all, audits are the result of aberrant billing data that is available to all contractors. This course explores the most common reasons for payment-related scrutiny and explains the difference in the various contractors conducting audits. The course will also offer a step-by-step response strategy to ensure a strategic response to these audits. Lastly, the course includes survival strategies to implement during payment-related scrutiny to mitigate damage to day-to-day operations and the fiscal success of the hospice.

    Learning Objectives:

    1.Discuss several reasons why hospices come under federal and state payment-related
    2. Differentiate between government / contractor organizations and detail the
    appropriate response strategy for each type of audit.
    3. List strategies to prepare for future payment-related scrutiny (self-reporting,
    contracts, QAPI implementation, etc.).
    4. List survival strategies to implement during any payment-related scrutiny to mitigate
    damage to the day-to-day operations and the fiscal success of the business

    • Complete the session evaluation that will be emailed to participant within one week of conference
    • Certificates will be emailed to attendee within 30 days post-conference
