This session will describe the education and preparation needed to overcome the hurdles of documentation related to medical necessity, homebound status and F2F. You can empower your case managers to support and justify each episode of care with the guidance of ICF language, OASIS accuracy, and thorough understanding Medicare Contractors’ expectations.


Target Audience:

Home Health Agency Administrator and/or Director of Nurses. Targeted for Social Workers includes beginning, intermediate and advanced level.


Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the top denial reasons for payment in the current home care landscape.
  2. List the critical items needed to support care as medically necessary and reasonable.
  3. Define the weak areas and educational needs of your staff.

Jennifer Collins, RN, HCS-D, COS-C is an Education Consultant and Coding Specialist for FMS. She has more than 15 years’ experience in hospital, home health, and primary care environments. Her attention to detail, application of policies and regulatory compliance, and effective communication skills have benefited her in a variety of roles from field RN through agency administrator to virtual case manager and coding specialist.
