We at Relias have been lucky over the years to work with organizations and individuals who are experts in the field, have a unique perspective and can share their experiences to help us better serve our customers. They say it takes a village and our partners are part of what make us a strong company.
Dr. Don Fowls is one of those individuals who has been working with us for the past few months as a consultant, but also as a customer during his work with Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care. For those of you lucky enough to have heard Dr. Fowls speak at conferences or have a conversation with him, you know that he is knowledgeable, experienced and a wonderful human being.
His experiences span a few decades of both practicing psychiatry and consulting with healthcare organizations. In recent years, Dr. Fowls has been focused on healthcare integration, developing new relationships that bridge the gaps between providers and payers, leveraging new technologies and solutions to improve healthcare including managing high cost, complex individuals and special populations.

I wanted to let you know that Relias Learning, the leading online training company in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and long term care, recently released its new training solution for health plans and payers to help address the many issues and challenges of healthcare reform. These include key issues like integrated care, managing high cost, complex members, and value-based purchasing. Read the press release by clicking here.
For the past few months I have had the opportunity to advise Relias on their offerings and meet with Chief Medical Officers like you across the country. The feedback has been very consistent: everyone is dealing with similar trends and issues: integration, managing new populations and high cost, complex members, value based purchasing and organizational and performance improvement. Things are changing at a rapid pace everywhere, and a lot of people are being asked to do a lot of new things they’ve never done. This is where Relias can help.
While Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care, we utilized Relias during implementation to train over 10,000 staff and providers in a short period of time. This included primary care and specialty medical providers who needed to learn behavioral health basics since our plan included integrated medical and behavioral benefits for the seriously mentally ill population. Relias enabled us to quickly scale training in a consistent way. It is very difficult to imagine how we could have trained so many people in a short time and met our contractual requirements without Relias.
